ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN PESANTREN: HOW SPIRITUAL INTELLIGENCE AND BUSINESS INCUBATION SHAPE ENTREPRENEURIAL INTENTION

Abstrak

Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) today no longer focus solely on religious education but also serve as agents of economic empowerment for the community. This is reflected in their participation in business incubation programs aimed at fostering students (santri) who are independent and entrepreneurial-minded. This study was conducted at Pondok Pesantren Nurul Quran Simo Boyolali, a pioneer of the HEBITREN Solo Raya business incubation program, which has developed business units such as cooperatives, greenhouses, and bakeries. The purpose of this research is to analyze the influence of entrepreneurship education and spiritual intelligence on entrepreneurial intention, as well as to examine the mediating role of business incubation. Using a quantitative approach and PLS-SEM analysis, data were collected from 43 students who participated in the AMT program and business incubation activities. The results indicate that entrepreneurship education does not have a direct effect on entrepreneurial intention. In contrast, spiritual intelligence and business incubation show significant effects. Business incubation does not significantly mediate the relationship between entrepreneurship education and entrepreneurial intention, but it significantly mediates the relationship between spiritual intelligence and entrepreneurial intention. This study concludes that although some variables do not exhibit direct or indirect effects, the business incubation program plays a strategic role in strengthening the transformation of knowledge and spiritual values into concrete entrepreneurial intentions. These findings highlight the importance of integrating entrepreneurship programs with spiritual values in the pesantren environment and encourage the development of entrepreneurship curricula that emphasize both practical and transcendental values.
